2014-15 Mid Season Festive Round-up

E-mail Print PDF

Tis the Season to be jolly! What a difference a Season makes…

On 12th Jan 2013, the Bath City Youth Mid Wilts u11 side lost 3-0 to Larkhall and ended the season with a played 9, lost 9 record. It had been a tough year.
Dropping down a division, they then went through the 2013/14 season as u12s undefeated, finishing with a p12, w 10, d2 record and winning their league title.
This meant returning in 2014-15 as u13s to play the same opposition that they had found so problematic previously as u11s.
Today the same boys comfortably beat Larkhall 4-0 and so far this year the team have p10 w 10 and top their league.

To have gone through an entire calendar year undefeated - and now nearly two - is an extraordinary achievement. To have improved so much relative to their peers is even more remarkable.
It speaks volumes for the commitment of the coaches, led by Simon Stacey and Richard Kelsey and even more about that of the boys who over the last two seasons have learned lessons about endeavour and being positive they will carry with them for life. As we wrap things up for the year, I'd like to formally congratulate this incredible squad and also more widely acknowledge the role we coaches are able to play in the lives of young people.

Bath City Youth u13 MID WILTS 14/15 SEASON

Our fledgling U10's Mid Wilts team narrowly lost a 4-3 thriller today v Melksham the last 2 minutes being like a repeat of the 1979 FA cup final - they worked hard for an equaliser but damn that Alan Sunderland look-a-like from Melksham! Some of these boys have only got 4 or 5 games under their belts but are playing great stuff and more importantly loving every minute of it.

Our Hanham U10's completed their 21st & 22nd games of the season with a friendly v Larkhall. So far they have won 17, drawn 5, lost 0.

Some of the team football played by the once weakerTeam 2 was delightful -second goal started with a tackle in defence - last year Tom would have booted it out - but he looked up and set off a series of sensational passing play and movement between 4 boys that ended with Roan almost walking the ball into the net. The Larkhall Manager was very complimentary about them.

Put in a stoic performance at Bradford on Avon on the 14th of December against the Division 2 league leaders, the City boys stuck to their pass and move game against a physically more dominant opponent. 3 - 1 down at half time, the boys found some wonderfully worked goals to come back repeatedly, 4 - 2,  5 - 2, 5 - 3, 5 - 4 and unfortunately ran out of time despite their dominance which clearly rattled the home side, coach and supporters. A wonderful performance which was the reward for their solidarity and commitment which was equaled by the home teams determination to hold on for all 3pts.

U18s floodlit team have shown an improvement in their league standing. The U18 Sunday league Mid Wilts currently sit at the top of their respective league following promotion last season.
